Biased comment much lol? A blown PD160 turbo cannot be attributed to Revo being on the car. I know of stock IC TDI's that have blown turbo's and IC TDI with other brands of software blowing turbo's. My response to that would not be oh its your crap software to blame but rather oh its a TDI so its bound to happen at some stage.
Its just a matter of time in my opinion before a TDI turbo gives in so just keep that at the back of your mind.

have to agree abit with this statement hey .. its kinda my worry about ever owning a TDI .. is that the turbos "just go" on them ..

On a side note, you guys do know that VW are selling the cupra turbo's at next to nothing right? They have a special on at the moment on the OEM recall sportline turbo's for like R4500 and the cupra turbo's are similar priced

I 100% agree ,turbo failures isnt always due to Sw, but saying no car with Revo never broke one isnt all true

Agreed...so saying a car with RK tuned softwre will never blow a turbo is also not true or any other brand of software for that matter

Quite honestly, I think the reason SEAT and VW 1.9 pd engines eat their turbos, is because their turbos are too small and or not robust enough to handle SUSTAINED hard driving.

Big enough to post the figures, but not big enough to deal with it constantly, especially at altitude.

I'm fairly sure the reason mine has not gone yet is because I drive at 2000 to 2500 rpm most of the time, and save the power for overtaking and beemer-caning. I have software too, and quite honestly the fuel savings made it worth it. Of course it can run harder than stock too, but I do that in small doses to keep her in one piece.

I reckon the real solution to turbo problems on 1.9 PDs is a slightly larger VNT turbo, but with ball-bearings, not journal bearings.

I also think additions like turbo timers and the likes on these cars as standard will help,

Know of a lot of people that are unsure of how to correctly operate a diesel turbo...
