PD160 Head Bolt VW Issue
Hi Guys,

I recently blew my head gasket on my Cupra TDI and had to have the entire head redone as well. In process of putting it back together so I went to go get new head bolts. After researching I found the PD160 uses the 12.9 tensile strength bolts apposed to the 10.9 of the normal Polos. I went with the part number to VW who said they didn't have stock and couldn't order because there is no part number for it on the system. I was looking for 038 103 384C and all they had was 038 103 384. The difference being the tensile strength. The sales rep said he would help by looking on the system under my vin number. Under the VIN it suggested I get 038 103 384. I checked the bolts upon receiving them for the stamp that states they 12.9 - this was very unclear and I thought it was 12.9 with the bottom half of the 2 not showing - it is not.

I went back today to explain that they had given me the wrong bolts - they would not let me return them but were willing to order the correct ones stating that under my VIN it says I need the 10.9 bolts. Does anyone know about this changing? Can anyone help me with rectifying this issue? The old bolts have 12.9 clearly stamped on them.
12.9 is correct. Our ibiza buk motor is actually the arl golf 4 pd150 motor with a bigger cooler , the 12.9 is exclusive to the pd150 did u try getting headbolts for that model? 10.9 can work well too up to 40psi no head lift and many years service, as per this threadhttp://forums.tdi...amp;page=2

If ur worried that the bolt will stretch or rip apart or not work as well in some way, just ask the rk lads about their big turbo polonies , 10.9 is plenty strong enough.

If you can't fix it with a hammer , you've got an electrical problem!
