We have one or two members with experience... Apparently stopshop, (unless dealt with over the counter, tho this may be difficult too) has trouble sticking to prices...

Tshililow could probably give a bit more input??

From stop shops terms:
3. If there are Tax/Vat, Import Duties, other taxes or disbursement fees to pay on the goods due to import rules, the courier will present you with a bill at the time of delivery. In general you will need to pay any such bill to the courier before you can receive the goods. Any such charges are your responsibility and unfortunately we cannot offer advice or estimates about import fees or other taxes as these vary, depending on the many different products and import regulations. When creating your account please note that if a business name is used, your business will be billed/charged Tax/Vat, Import Duties etc.., the courier will contact you prior to delivering the goods to advise the total amount which will have to be paid for before receiving the goods.
4. In many cases and depending on import rules, both businesses and private users will be charged and liable for Tax/Vat, Import Duties etc.., these are for your account and not Stop Shop's responsibility.

So yeah, price looks good but it doesn't include vat or duties so you end up paying a lot more than you expected. Budget abt 5-6k. Also getting the facia thing through VW was a bit of a pain in the arse for tshililow.

this is a local site though? and if you buy it from them at the price stipulated on the site there should be NO CUSTOMS VAT OR DUTY APPLICABLE! unless they state the price to be excl VAT.

if they are purchasing from a supplier abroad and then shipping from the supplier to your door, the VAT & AD VALOREM duty would be payable by them irrespective of the inco term used as they are listed as the buyer and there are no rules which states that the consignee is responsible for any fees as the buyer would usually recover this from the consignee. Dont fall for their BS, ask questions and double check before clicking "buy now"

That's exactly what I thought before I ordered, and I was wrong. Believe it or not it's not worth it. I paid over R1200 for those Duties which Stopshop has no control over it. Basically after you order with them, they place an order with a manufacturer in China who will then ship the product straight to you via DHL. But for it to pass customs, DHL will call you with a quote; then you wil be confused and call Stopshop. Stopshop will in turn read you the Terms & Conditions (especially the one quoted by Rory).

They are merely a middleman who charges double the price (hence 'free' delivery) and takes no responsibility afterwards. Not worth it, go to hellopeter.

and oh...the Fascia saga will follow soon after. It will take 6months for VW to get you one.:upsetw::upsetw::upsetw:

Basically if you want one of those units rather do some googling and get it direct form china yourself instead of stopshop. (althought that could go wrong too...)

That being said the units do look pretty good. I think it looked like a very nice interior upgrade in tshiliows car.

Guy that works with me got his radio for his Navara today.

Bought via stopshop, no hassles only had to pay an additional 328 above the quoted price of 3,100.

They do state on their invoice excl duties / taxes.

He is super excited and it looks like a amazing unit.

So if u want to get it via stopshop, budget for some additional hidden costs.

Lucky him, my costs went over a grand (Hidden costs that is) and what bothers me about Stopshop is their after-sales support which is close to non-existent. The Unit worked well except for a few little things that we could have sorted should they had proper after-sales support. Also, don't except any detailed manual on the unit.
